It has been a while

It's been too long since my last post. I had planned on keeping this blog up as an in general wrestling blog but feel a little short of that goal over the past few months. I am in my new job as dean at a new school and have taken on the responsibility of JV 1 coach. So far the common theme for this year has been transition. I am learning a new job and a school 4x the size of my last. I am taking the back seat for the first time in my wrestling coaching career. It has been a learning experience that is for sure. My new head coach knows his technique. We differ on our approaches, not in a bad way, but just different. We have a good group of kids that work pretty hard and most of them really want to be there. More kids here train year round or at least attend multiple off season tournaments and camps. I continue to love the underhook series and try to share that with my new guys. I have also fallen in love with turks and crab riding. As a wrestler my chain wrestling has improved and I continue to wish that I would have known then what I know now. Knees are getting bad shoulders are on their way out too. Only live once though. I follow the Reapers from a little distance. It's hard not being around those guys. Tonight they have their senior night and I will be in attendance. Congratulations to Pickett, Kelby and Mikal. You are all good young men with bright futures. I've enjoyed my time with you. I have watched some good videos lately and will be posting them shortly. I'll be sure to keep this thing running smoother from now on.

Dan Gable...still goin strong.
