Resignation

I have been offered and accepted a Dean's position at Metea Valley High School for next school year. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Plano High School as a teacher, guidance counselor and as the head wrestling coach. It is my hope that whom ever is chosen to fill the head coaching position will continue the fine tradition of Plano Reaper Wrestling. I will always consider myself a Reaper in part and hope that you will do the same. I hope that my wrestlers will keep in touch and know that if they ever need anything, that I will do what ever I can to help. Along with my new Dean position, I will also be an assistant coach for the Mustang wrestling team and will still be involved in the wrestling community.

Thank you to all those that have supported the program and I over the years. I have been very fortunate to have such wonderful kids to coach and parents to support our efforts.

In 2002, he finished third in the nation at 157 pounds and improved his placement to second as senior in 2003. Bratland served as Wartburg's co-captain as a junior and senior and was the team's most valuable wrestler those same two years. He was a member of Wartburg's 2003 national championship team.

Nick Mitchell- (Head Wrestling Coach at Grand View University in Des Moines, Iowa.)
Mitchell finished second at the national championships once and third twice, and was part of the 1999 national championship team. He compiled 114 wins as a Wartburg Knight which ranks seventh best on the school’s all time win list.

Dr. Ryan Sturm- (Wartburg College Alum, Two time All-American, Division III National Champion.)
During his 4 years at Wartburg College, Sturm was only able to compete in two national championships, the other two years he was sidelined with season ending injuries. While he only was able compete in two national championships he made the best of them earning All-American honors in 2003 placing 4th and returning the following year bumping up two weight classes and capturing the National title in 2004. Along with Sturm’s individual accomplishments he was part of both ‘03 and ‘04 National Dual and National Championship teams at Wartburg.

Zac Weiglein- (Wartburg College Alum, Three time All-American, 2x Division III National Champion.)
Weiglein captured All-American honors where he placed 3rd at 125 in 1998. Zac followed that performance with two consecutive National Championship Titles in 1999 and 2000 at 125. He too was a three time Academic All-American for Wartburg College 1998, 1999, and 2000..

Bart Mehlert- (Ellsworth College NJCAA 2x All-American, NJCCA National Champion; Wartburg College 2x All-American Division III National Champion)
Mehlert started his collegiate wrestling career wrestling at the junior college level rolling to an impressive finish by becoming a two-time All-American and even capturing a National Championship at Ellsworth in 2001. He then went on to Wartburg College where he again claimed All-American status two times, as well as earning his second National Championship in 2004, this time at the Division III level.
Other clinicians will include other Wartburg College, Manteno High School and area Alums.
More specific information will be released in the near future, such as cost, definitive times and ages allowed as we make arrangements based on interest of the area coaches, schools, and wrestlers. Please let us know if you are or know anyone who may be interested in attending the camp.
