Good practice for those that were there.
Only 10 guys at practice today. Can't say that I'm not a little disappointed. I know it's New Years but, there will be 60-80 more new years days for my guys, but having the opportunity to win 20+ duals wont come nearly as often. The guys that did show up worked hard for a good hour and a half. They got in a good sweat and drilled well. Coach Villarreal went a full match today with Travis including overtimes...thought we were going to have to call 911. He's still got it though. Kelby is picking things up faster every practice and starting to make some good decisions. Peruski has been a very pleasant surprise and addition to the team. He is a sponge and is improving every day. Losic has also been a pleasant surprise this year. If we can get past the asthma he will be pretty darn good. He is a natural athlete. Abel and Shaun are fun to watch in the room. I never thought I'd say that about a 103 and 112 pounder but I like their styles and they move so darn fast. Jose had a good tournament at Lincoln and continues to refine his game. If we can figure out a way to get him flexible...watch out! Ryan is finally starting to open up his game and it is paying off. I know he wasn't exactly happy with his performance at the Lincoln tourny, but he showed some good things and we know of a few more to work on. Travis is wrestling well. He needs some fine tuning but wrestling with Coach Villarreal will force him to wrestle fundamentally sound and improve his skills. Cesar and Nathan are great additions this year as well. Both are super nice kids and work hard. They are like Zach in that they are always looking to learn and improve. I love coaching kids like that. We will be back on the mats on Monday morning at 8 to prepare for Reed Custer and Dwight. Most of you know my feelings on Reed Custer, so I hope you are as focused as I am on beating their tails. Have a good rest of the weekend and heal up. Time to go to work on Monday.
